Most of us have experienced an encouraging word or a kind gesture when we were at our deepest low, and we know how life changing it was.  Sadly, too many children and teens in the Manhattan, Kansas area seldom, if ever, experience being encouraged or have a genuine encounter with an adult that guides them in the right direction. 

Many times what they do experience is verbal, physical and sexual abuse, neglect and abandonment.  For them, living in the foster system is a series of homes they are moved to one after another. You can imagine that it doesn't take long to get the idea that you are unwanted, a problem no one wants to deal with and not worth the time or effort from anyone,  especially adults.

You may think that this kind of thing doesn't happen here.  Unfortunately, it does happen right here in the Northeast Kansas area.  It happens in your community.  It happens every day. . . and night. 

Royal Family Kids (RFK) and Teen Reach Adventure Camp (TRAC) are dedicated to reaching out to kids who find themselves in the foster system.  RFKC is a week long summer camp for boys and girls ages 7 - 11.  TRAC is a three day high energy camp for teens ages 12 - 15.  TRAC is gender specific with their camps, hosting young ladies and young men at separate camps. 

The purpose of both RFK and TRAC is to provide a fun experience for the kids and teens where they can be safe and find a nurturing and non-threatening environment.  Ultimately, our goal is to give these kids something they have lost - HOPE.

All staff and support personnel donate their time, many taking vacation time to work with these kids and teens.

For both camps, the goal is for the positive experiences the kids and teens have at camp, to continue throughout the campers life.  As they look back on the days at camp, our hope is that each of these precious ones comes to understand their incredible value and begin to trust others and gain a new perspective on their future. 

Why You Are Important & What You Can Do

The organizations of Royal Family Kids and Teen Reach Adventure Camp rely solely on contributions from area businesses, organizations and individuals to fund the expenses for each camp.  All staff and support personnel donate their time, many taking vacation time to work with these kids and teens.

RFK expenses include all recreation, lodging and meals, take home items such as camp t-shirt, duffle bag, crafts, Bible, memory photo album and birthday celebration for RFK. 

TRAC expenses include all recreation, lodging and meals, take home items such as camp t-shirt, fanny pack, and backpack, crafts, journal, lanyard, Bible, camp CD, memory photo album and special fun night.

Still others will want to raise money by asking people to sponor you in your run/walk with a donation to RoyalTracs5K.  You may find a Donation Sheet at this link.  Those who help out in this way will be eligible for a prize that will be given to the Top Individual who raises the most money!  Thank You!!

Giving Made Easy

What if you could raise even more money for the kids to come to camp?  Perhaps your family would want to make it their mission to get sponsors for either the adult event or the Kids Fun Run.  It's really simple and easy to do.

You can download a copy of our Donation Sheet, ask your family and friends to make a donation for each kilometer you run or walk or they can make a flat donation toward the event.  Remember that the funds we raise goes toward sending foster kids in Kansas to camp.

So when you're opening gifts on Christmas morning or you're celebrating Easter, think about the kids who may not live too far from you, that would love the gift of going to camp and leaving the stress of their uncertain lives behind for a few days.

They may not be able to personally thank you, but they will know you care because you gave.
